Furniture Reupholstery Project with Calico

A few months ago, I snagged the most beautiful high back lounge chair and ottoman from a local vintage shop. They were perfect minus their old, worn upholstery. I knew they needed a major facelift to celebrate the beauty of their shape and scale. This is where working with Calico came into play. Reupholstering and customizing through Calico is the environmental and sustainable alternative to ready-made, out-of-the-box furniture. 

Calico’s design services are free and everything is custom made to fit perfectly! Their incredible selection of fabrics are used to reupholster more than 10,000 furniture pieces every year. 

Boise doesn’t have a Calico, so I visited my nearest location in Salt Lake City. I brought my chair and ottoman, met the wonderful employees, browsed hundreds of fabrics, and found the most beautiful reupholstery fabric selection for the pieces. Calico streamline the entire custom reupholstery process, making it simple to achieve a look perfectly tailored to your home. Their design shop made it SO easy to find the perfect new fabric for this duo! Picking from their vast assortment, I chose a warm, maroon velvet. It felt perfect for our new home! I was able to leave the chair in very good hands. Two months later, I got a call that the chair was finished. Omg, it was even better than I imagined!!! 

Once we move into our new home, this chair and ottoman will reside in our master bedroom. The newly updated perch is absolutely perfect for the space! I cannot wait to utilize it for early morning reading or for any other cozy moments.
